Jules L. Carrozza.
- Rodan - US version reconstruction. Will use a mix of either the Classic Media DVD or Vestron laserdsic and Toho DVD to meticulously reconstruct the US version in higher quality. Adobe Premiere will be used.
- War of the Gargantuas- Fan edit of War of the Gargantuas which will primarily be the UPA cut but with the deleted from the US version Maser March for the "Operation L" sequence and others put back in. Adobe Premiere will be used.
- Godzilla vs. the Smog Monster - Reconstruction. Uses the Orion laserdisc for the same footage but in a different aspect ratio and uses the Sony DVD for the majority of the footage. The Carrozza reconstruction was made in Adobe Premiere.
- Lake of Dracula - International version reconstruction. Made using the region 2 Toho DVD, Paramount's VHS for the audio and a clip of the French version on YouTube for the international credits. Footage was color corrected to remove Toho's infamous ugly green tint. Made in Adobe Premiere. Another International reconstruction by Ted Johnson uses the French title card, but recreates the opening titles from scratch in Tohoscope format.
- Evil of Dracula - International version reconstruction. Made using the Toho DVD and Paramount's VHS for the audio and credits. Footage was subtly color timed to remove the green tint present in Toho's master. Made in Adobe Premiere.
- ESPY - International version reconstruction. Will use the Paramount VHS for audio and Toho's region 2 DVD as video source. Bits of the film cut from Saperstein's edit will be in Japanese with English subtitles and color timing will be used to remove the green inherent in Toho's video master. Adobe Premiere will be used for this reconstruction.
Sydney Perkins.
- Cozzilla Raids Again – Godzilla Raids Again fan edit and sequel to Luigi Cozzi's Cozzilla. Made using Final Cut Pro and Coloriage.
- G - a re-edit of the Classic Media Godzilla featurettes into a nine-part documentary, interwoven with music and video. The ninth one will be a featurette of my own on the legacy of Godzilla and the films' international releases. Probably going to be in the ballpark of 100 minutes, give or take ten minutes.
- The Human Vapour - US version reconstruction, currently in progress. Video and sound editing are being done in Final Cut Pro 7 using source materials re-encoded to .mov using MPEG Streamclip. The source materials themselves are Toho's decade old DVD, a DVD rip of the Video Gems tape, an incomplete copy of the Trio broadcast in .avi, and a much more complete DVD copy of the same but without the bug in the corner. Probably hundreds of edits in the Video Gems copy duplicated using the Toho DVD, down to the frame. JES Deinterlacer utilized to get the Video Gems version to 23.98 progressive frames per second to match the Toho DVD, while an arduous, semi-automatic process in FCP involving the deletion of dupe frames will be used to achieve the same result with the Trio footage. Higher quality Trio audio synced as closely to the main Video Gems sound as possible, with the VG filling in for all missing Trio audio. Color will probably be redone scene-by-scene. Final, fully edited .mov will be output to DVD using DVD Studio Pro.
- King Kong vs. Godzilla - Japanese version reconstruction. (Made using a whole smattering of programs I can't remember all the names of, but which included Final Cut Pro at least). Is a mix of the best looking footage from the Universal region 1 DVD and Toho HD print of King Kong vs. Godzilla for the highest quality viewing experience possible.
- Magic Serpent - Reconstruction of the American version. Edited in Final Cut Pro 7 and title screen isolated with the help of ghetto Paint alternative, Paintbrush. Region 2 DVD of the Japanese version used for the vast majority of footage and the Sinister Cinema DVD for all but a few seconds of sound (the other seconds are from the Retromedia DVD). Opening and ending credits recreated digitally using the original font and freeze frames, with light grain and weave applied. Three freeze frames used to replace shots featuring Japanese text have been recreated using the exact frames and by applying light weave and grain. American International Television logo taken from the 2010 Retromedia DVD of Destroy all Planets.
- Hanuman and the 5 Kamen Riders - Widescreen reconstruction. Uses the fullscreen Thai DVD of the film, a Hong Kong bootleg of Five Riders vs. King Dark and the Thai DVD of Hanuman vs. Seven Ultraman. Thai DVD of 5 Kamen Riders was unsqueezed and cropped just a touch on the top and bottom to remove print splices, so all unique footage shot for the Thai production is now pillarboxed at about 1.78:1. Stock footage from Five Riders vs. King Dark, Hanuman vs. Seven Ultraman and the trailer to King Dark resourced using the DVDs mentioned earlier and are now presented in scope as a result. Scope Chaiyo logo taken from the Hanuman vs. Seven Ultraman Thai DVD. All DVDs ripped to .mov files using MPEG Streamclip, King Dark and King Dark trailer inverse telecined with JES Deinterlacer, Hanuman and the 5 Kamen Riders slowed down to 23.98 fps with the help of Cinema Tools, footage edited in Final Cut Pro, final DVDs will be encoded using Compressor.
- Godzilla vs. Mechagodzilla, vs. Spacegodzilla and vs. Destoroyah: Lo-fi versions - Each film's English dub was downmixed to mono and filtered to simulate the rougher quality of earlier Hong Kong dubs from the early 90's and before.
Ethan Reed.
- Ghidrah, The Three-Headed Monster - Trilingual DVD. Custom DVD made from Toho's HDTV. Includes Japanese audio track, an E-Dub created with TalkIt! and the Bellucci dub, the deleted being scenes patched with the Japanese audio. Subtitles will likely be a corrected version of Classic Media's script.
- Holocaust of the Horror Monsters – Ghidrah, The Three-Headed Monster fan edit. Film re-edited in the style of Dick Randall’s Crocodile and with a certain YTP vibe. Many scenes intentionally out of place, incomprehensible order of shots, repeated scenes and a plethora of stock footage from various, ill-matching sources. Score is a chaotic mix of Ifukube’s music, DeWolfe cues, Goblin, and various other sources. Edited in Corel Video Studio.
- Godzilla vs. Gigan – International version reconstruction. The majority of the video is sourced from Sony’s master. The “Toho Eizo”, “Godzilla vs. Gigan” and “The End” faithfully recreated, with the Power Multimedia DVD being used as a guide for their correct size and placement. Opening credits sourced from said DVD, stretched to their correct dimensions. Current audio from that same DVD until a better source is obtained, with the brief portions (from reel changes) patched in from the Japanese audio.
- Terror of Mechagodzilla - International version reconstruction. Main video source is Toho's HDTV. Toho logo sourced from Godzilla vs. Gigan (Sony master). "Toho Eizo" and "Terror" cards sourced from Power Multimedia DVD, both stretched to their correct dimensions and pillarboxed. Opening credits recreated using PM's as a basis. "The End" card from the PM DVD pasted over the footage. Audio sourced from the PM DVD. Made in Adobe Premiere.
- Crocodile - International version reconstruction. Uses German DVD for the majority of the video. Audio and International credits sourced from Dutch VHS. "Since his very beginning..." and "The End" cards recreated. Made using Adobe Premiere.
- The Return of Godzilla - Toho Pan Scope version. Main video is Toho’s HDTV, with crappy video generated credits. Audio from the Carlton VHS. Made with Corel Video Studio.
- Champion Matsuri Festival, Heisei Edition - All 6 Heisei era movies edited down to 80/75 minutes. Return is likely to mimic edits found in the American and German versions. The last 3 films will have their dubs presented in glorious low fidelity. All lines that survive from Mechagodzilla's first dub are to be re-instated.
Pauline Senkowsky.
- Godzilla - The Totally Professional Dubbed Version. Uses the original M&E stems (Thanks Brian/Jules) and the Criterion subtitles as a basis for the dubbing script. All characters dubbed by Speakonia and Google Translate.
- Gigantis, the Fire Monster - 1.85:1 theatrical reconstruction. Cobbled together with footage from the 2009 Splendid DVD, the Classic Media 2006 DVD, and an LP mode recording of the original title card and hard cut H-Bomb blast (Thanks Cody!). Warner Bros. logo will be the version seen on original run 16mm prints, sourced from the Image release of Teenagers from Outer Space. Video is synched to audio from Classic Media DVD. All reel change induced missing frames mimicked, as no other good audio source is currently available for me to work with. Edited with Sony Vegas 10.0, a transparent version of the Classic Media video track above the main video serving as a guide for ultra-precise placement of shots and frames. Footage not found in the Japanese cut will revert to the CM DVD, asymmetrically pillarboxed to 1.66:1, and the shots not found on the German DVD will be patched with footage from the 2008 HV broadcast of the Japanese cut. Future updates may include (please take "may" extremely lightly) all U.S. footage sourced from a new 16mm telecine, should such an event ever come to fruition. Will be issued after or around the same time my Japanese version restoration is completed. An open matte Academy version will also be available at a later date. MKV and DVD versions will be available through MySpleen, Asian DVD Club, Cinemageddon, and physical shipment. Sydney Perkins will author the DVD edition.
- Godzilla Raids Again - Japanese version restoration/video quality upgrade. Uses the 2009 Splendid DVD for the majority of the film, but reverts to the 2008 HV broadcast for the credits, end title, and the few shots missing from the German cut, with contrast corrected to match German footage, but no attempt has been made to remove the Nihon-Eiga Channel bug. Main editing and PAL video slowdown performed in Vegas 10.0. Improved English subtitle script overhauled by Tyler E. Martin (Thanks!). Extras include a new isolated score track, created independently from the R2's version. MKV and DVD versions will be available through MySpleen, Asian DVD Club, Cinemageddon, and physical shipment. Sydney Perkins is in charge of and will author the DVD edition.
- Godzilla Raids Again - The Champion Festival Cut. Runs 74 minutes, Toho Logo has been replaced with the 1970s fullscreen logo. Made over the course of one afternoon. Attempts to recreate the fast paced, brisk editing seen in the Champion Festival edits of other films.
- Final Wars: The Lost Sci-Fi Premiere - Panned and scanned/90 minute time slot butcher cut of Godzilla Final Wars.
- King Kong vs. Godzilla: "U.N. Newsroom Hours Cut" - Experimental hybrid version of King Kong vs. Godzilla, in progress with basic editing underway. Will use the Japanese stereo mix for sound until the mono source is available. Scenes found in John Beck/Peter Zinner's cut will have similar directional stereo sound added.
- Destroy all Monsters - Anamorphic International version. Uses the 35mm bonus credits from the Media Blasters Blu-Ray (Thanks Cody!) for the English visuals and the MB DVD for the duration of the film, color and contrast unaltered. Re-synched Frontier dubbed audio from the ADV DVD, with incomplete snippets during reel changes patched with the Japanese monaural track (the pitch has not been altered whatsoever, unlike the MB DVD). Will be available on MySpleen and possibly Asian DVD Club as a .mkv. Video and new .ac3 track edited and rendered with Sony Vegas 10.0. Freemake Video Converter used to convert .mkv rip of Blu-Ray credits into editable H.264 .mp4 video.
- Destroy all Monsters - Castilian Spanish Dub sync ("Doctor Joshida!!") Uses a dreadful quality .avi encode from ED2K of some satellite rip's audio synced to the dreaded '08 Lo-Vision or the above mentioned international .mkv. The entire beginning portion before the first dubbing loop in the control room is out of sync normally, and I'm not sure if I want to "correct" it or leave it as it is. Used Vegas to make the ultra sharp EQ levels less harsh/ear-rapey.
- Godzilla’s Revenge - "Perfect" anamorphic DVD5 version in the works. Uses the better sounding UPA video master for the vast majority of the dub, reverting to the Classic Media/MonstersHD edition for missing portions. Uses two 16mm versions graciously provided by Brian R. Culver for determining the original sync. Video uses the standard '08 Toho scan, and opening credits and end title will be cobbled together from a variety of sources (The MonstersHD, the UPA, and finally, the Simitar Letterbox tape for the outer frame).
- The Mysterians - Quickie Peter Riethof and Carlos Montalbán/RKO dub sync. Opening and ending titles are in scope, and the Mysteroid report insert shot is 4:3 pillarboxed inside the 2.35:1 frame, as are the few frames missing from the '01 Toho master. Audio source is an SP/LP mode VHS-rip of the VCI/Star Classics master by Chris Oglio, graciously provided by Cody Himes. Available as a DVD5 on MySpleen.
- Gamera vs. Barugon - Kadokawa HD/Shout! syncable .ac3 of the Hong Kong dub. Uses an SP mode Celebrity tape.
- The War of the Gargantuas - Trilingual custom DVD5. Uses the Toho Blu-Ray version of the film, encoded and downscaled to MPEG2 using dgavcdec 1.0.9, AvsPmod (Avisynth) and HC023 Encoder. Japanese mono, 5.1, and BGM tracks extracted and converted to .flac with Freemake Video Converter. English and French audio synced to .mpeg and exported as .flac in Vegas 10.0. Additonally, the 5.1 .ac3 was made directly in Vegas. Final non-5.1 .ac3s encoded with Audacity (the program was also used to export individual 5.1 channels as .flacs). Subtitles from Classic Media disc extracted with SubRip, and edited in Subtitle Workshop (dull, menial tasks were performed in good 'ol Notepad). Photoshop CS4 used to crop poster art and export .png for menus. Final DVD5 version authored with DVDStyler.
- Godzilla 1985 - Menuless triple audio DVD5 created in DVDStyler for utilitarian convenience and personal use. Uses an IVTC'd version of the ChupaX broadcast recording flagged to 16:9 at an average 6000kbps. Russian soft subs are timed/formatted exactly as they appear in the New World video master and are rendered in plain old Arial Unicode MS at default settings. Audio #1 is a a mono .ac3 of the theatrical mix from the Image LD (thanks Sydney), missing bits patched with the MHD. No major audio restoration undertaken. Audio #2 is the original .ac3 of the workprint audio from the raw DVD5 of the broadcast. Audio #3 is a 99% complete isolated score at 192kbps, the majority of cues sourced from Ethan Reed's OST, though others in some instances where Ethan's .mp3s differ from the film too much are my own.
Ryan Swearingen.
- Moon Godzilla- Fan edit of mostly consisting 1970's films and a few from the 80's as well. It will be most likely a hybrid done in a pan n scan format for the most part. Consist between the last five Showa Godzilla films, Deathquack, Submersion of Japan and Conflagration. It's intended to be a stock footage film made to look as if it was a lost Godzilla film from sometime in the 80's.
Andrew Mallard
- Godzilla vs The Thing - Reconstruction of the American version of the film. Mostly utilizes the HV broadcast to give better picture quality in the proper aspect ratio. When necessary, it reverts to the Japanese DVD, though not often -- some frames are missing from the HV broadcast. Uses the Simitar DVD and VHS for the American exclusive shots, except for brief instants exclusive to the German DVD or 06 Classic Media DVD. Uses the audio from the 02 Classic Media DVD, since it sounds the best. Everything is rebuilt around the "pre-UPA" edit, based on on the recorded telecines from the 80s. May use some bits from Dr Goldfoot when updating. Current version on MySpleen and Cinemaggedon is based on the 06 dvd, and cuts out the shot exclusive to the German dvd.
- Godzilla Raids Again - Fan edit intended to undo some of the more obnoxious parts of the Americanization of "Gigantis." Will combine the German dvd and HV boradcast to restore the film, then cut it down, removing the stock footage and as much of the omnipresent, unending narration as possible. Will also strive to undo the replacing Godzilla's roar. Finished a half-assed version a while back, but its a mess. More or less, an attempt to turn the American version into a more straight-laced dub.
Collaborations.
- The Mysterians: Ultimate Edition - Custom DVD9 set in development by Pauline Senkowsky, with assistance and resources provided Sydney Perkins, Cody Himes, and Jean-Baptiste Pujolle. Features as many audio and subtitle tracks as possible, uncut dubs being synchronized to the Japanese theatrical version, cut European dubs synchronized to the shorter RKO/MGM version (a v.2.0 of my earlier custom). Set will also include the shortened 1978 Japanese reissue. RKO cut reconstruction uses Toho Blu-Ray for bulk of video, with the Japanese negative used for the majority of the feature, reverting to the foreign negative used for the Champion festival cut for certain special effects shots different in international copies struck from it. Extras will be lifted from the Blu-Ray and R2/R1, plus alternate credits sequences and U.S. trailers (. Audio options include - Japanese 1.0, 2001 Japanese 5.1 remix, 1959 English 1.0, 1959 Italian 1.0, 1960 German 1.0, 1960 French 1.0, 1960, 2005 English 5.1, 2005 Latino 1.0, Japanese commentary, BGM.
- King Kong vs. Godzilla - Japanese version reconstruction 2.0, by Sydney Perkins and Pauline Senkowsky. Ongoing. Main objectives are to collect the film's various audio mixes and improve the overall picture quality to the best of our abilities using new (to us) techniques and source materials, including the Universal Blu-ray, a capture of the 1991 LD and the recently issued Toho Blu-ray containing a number of originally LD-only, non-Champion or US version scenes in fresh digital scans from film. Also included will be a revision of Tyler Martin's new subtitle track utilizing a transcript of the Japanese dialogue and six different audio options - 1962 1.0 mono, 1962 4.0 stereo, 1991 2.0 remix, 2001 5.1 remix and the isolated score in both its mono and stereo recordings.
- Ghidrah, The Three-Headed Monster - U.S. theatrical version reconstruction by Pauline Senkowsky and Sydney Perkins. Uses the HV broadcast for the majority of the film, reverting to the R2 telecine when need be, as several shots from the HV source are trimmed by several frames. Reverts to the Alan Enterprises/CST master for a few frames of one shot that runs longer than either Japanese source, as does the ending shot, both pillarboxed. Audio source is the Classic Media release of the same video master. Credits and other opticals are faithfully recreated. Walter Reade-Sterling logo will be reinstated. A v2.0 is already done, though the definitive release may not be for a while.
- Invasion Planete X - French dub synced to Sydney's bilingual DVD9 by Pauline Senkowsky. Uses an old .avi rip of the 1982 Topodis Video VHS. All parts cut (there's like one ACTUAL cut in the French version) or otherwise spliced out (there's really a lot of those to go around) have been filled with Sydney's bilingual track. Edited with Vegas 10.0 and true mono .ac3 created with Audacity. If I understood the language at all, I would've subtitled the missing portions.
Other.
- Godzilla Final Warriors 2004 - Comedic Godzilla Final Wars fan edit by Maxwell Breese, featuring many replaced tracks, added sound effects, and new human scenes. Alternate cut by Pauline Senkowsly also in the works, edited with Sony Vegas 10.0 and Audacity for some instances. Final release DVD5 version underway.
- The King of the Monster Returns - Unfinished Godzilla Raids Again fan edit and sequel to Godzilla: King of The Monsters, featuring a faux Raymond Burr reporting from Japan durring Godzilla's second outing. By Curtis Whitear.
- Das Grauen Schleitcht Durch Tokio - German H-Man dub synced to the Sony Icons of Sci-Fi restoration of the U.S. cut. Myvideo.de stream recorded with Bandicam, audio extracted with and a second commercial free copy captured using Audacity. Reverts to the English track for any missing bits (though no actual dialogue is missing). Cobbled together in six grueling hours in Vegas 10.0, where frame to two frame stretching was necessary for dozens of instances.
- The Last War - US version reconstruction, by Kevin Pyrtle. Uses the credits and audio from Prism's VHS synched to footage from Toho's region 2 DVD.
- Prophecies of Nostradamus - International version reconstructed by Kevin Pyrtle. The credits were recreated through digital text and the audio came from a Danish video release of the film synched to footage from a bootleg of the Japanese version allegedly leaked from Toho.
- Terror of Mechagodzilla - International version reconstructed by "MattmanAlpha". Credits and audio come from the Power Multimedia disc. The video source for the main feature is the Classic Media release. Audio is not perfectly synced. Formerly available at Asian DVD Club.
- Yog, Monster from Space - AIP TV version reconstruction by Brian R. Culver. Source is mostly the SP Amvest VHS with audio and video elements from a first generation SLP recording of a TV broadcast to fix the Amvest tape’s out of synch Ganime attack and incomplete credits. Created in the mid 1990s, the VHS tapes were copied to S-VHS and edited together on an S-VHS master by a professional video service company. The restoration falls short in that the Amvest video removes several imperceptibly quick lap dissolves (that appear as jump cuts to the naked eye) throughout the film.
